Rossi

Ross de Baas is half of pop duo Oxilogue (Netherlands/Italy), making housey song-based synth-pop with hints of modular exploration and jangly bass-guitar. He has also collaborated with US singer / songwriter Bittersweet Machines.

As Rossi, he has released solo tracks that could be described as ‘house’, but haphazardly pivot between electronic sub-genres and eras. The sound is more likely to be driven by hardware exploration and whim rather than planning or conformity.

The Open|Forms performance will be an electronic grab-bag, from acidic electro trip-hop to jazzy house. It will be built around samples of early attempts at playing a 6-string guitar (instead of the more familiar 4-string bass). Ross continues to provide video art projections for Open|Forms, including for this performance.

Ox Barber

With Ox Barber, renowned clarinetist, composer Oğuz Büyükberber reveals a hidden side of his musical personality. Focusing on his passion for electronica, Ox Barber is a glitchy, avant-garde, atmospheric, playground involving lots and lots of cables.

Layers of entangled thoughts and emotions with a nice spicy dressing of aged trauma, served with carefully engraved steamed child-play will take you away from the boredom of your daily problems by challenging you with “Why would anyone do this?” question.

Struggle to find clarity within confusion may sound confusing, and this is probably what this project sounds like.
Be prepared!

Tectonia

In the late 70’s I got struck by the sounds from Jean-Michel Jarre. I played the organ at the time and decided to switch to synthesizers. Since 2014 I work with eurorack as modular is completely free of compromises in sound design. My machine enables me to do things I never thought possible. There’re these experimental moments of joy and happy accidents that make me rethink musical composition. For my set at Open Forms I will start off with an ambient drone of which melodic sounds emerge, slowly changing to pulsating rhythmic sequences to end in a melodic dance experience.

Allert Aalders

Allert is hard to miss if you are into synths and in The Netherlands. He is part of the Modulation and Dutch modular fest teams and he plays various electronic music events now and then (Voltage Control Amsterdam, Electric Cafe Arnhem, Noodlebar Rotterdam, Superbooth etc).

It’s also possible that he taught you about synths and if you use plugin instruments by Arturia, Native Instruments, Steinberg, Kilohearts and or Fabfilter you’ve probably used a preset he made.

Allert improvises with voltages, generated or found sounds and effects (Granular! Reverb!) and creates a patch to play on the event itself.
