Korhan Erel
Korhan Erel is a Berlin-based non-binary electronic musician, improviser, composer and sound artist.
Their music covers conceptual/narrative sound performances, as well as structured and composed pieces for contemporary dance, theatre, and video art. They perform solo, in duos and in groups with musicians and dancers, as well as in ensembles and orchestras. They use recorded and altered sound as well as synthesized sound in their practice.
Current bands include Ephemeral Fragments (with Florian Walter and Emily Wittbrodt), Paralogues (with Tuçe Erel), Only With You (with Eliad Wagner), an electroacoustic duo with Neslihan Schmidt) and Lettow Erel (with Gunnar Lettow).
Korhan has completed three residencies at STEIM in Amsterdam (in 2005 and 2011) and was a guest composer at the Electronic Music Studios in Stockholm in January 2011.
They have twelve CD and LP releases on ECM (with Trickster Orchestra), Umland Records, FMR, Gruenrekorder, Creative Sources Records, Evil Rabbit Records, A.K. Müzik, Müzik Hayvanı, and Kukuruku Recordings, as well as several digital releases.
Korhan has performed at Soundtrips NRW, the Moers Festival, Labor Sonor, the Klangzeit Festival, Kontraklang, the Borusan Music House, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, XJAZZ Festival, All Ears Festival, New Adits Festival, Akbank Jazz Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival, Tehran Digital Arts Exhibition, and many other venues and festivals across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and North America.
Korhan’s collaboration with Sydney-based video artist Fabian Astore, ‘The Threshold’, won the Blake Prize in Australia in 2012.
Korhan has shown several sound/video installations in art spaces in Germany, Hong Kong, and Turkey.
Dave Mech
is a Netherlands based electronic music artist whose lifelong music journey evolved from being an instrumentalist playing flamenco guitar, bass guitar and drums, into electronic music live performer and music producer.
Dave Mech’s underground techno sound is driven by a hardware performance approach on stage and in the studio. His love for detroit and dub shines through in his uptempo grooves and dynamic live performances. His music productions are largely based around live recordings, making his approach to creating music both technically sound, and humanistic.
As an instrumentalist he has played in prestigious Dutch venues like Tivoli / Vredenburg, Paradiso, and VERA, as well as festivals such as Oeral and Noorderslag. As a solo live performer Dave performed across Europe in renowned clubs like :// about blank, Oxi, and Aeden in Berlin, NADA Temple in Lisbon and Club Basis in Utrecht. Sharing lineups with renowned artists like Steve Rachmat, SLAM, the Advent and many more.
Dave has an upcoming album and vinyl release on Diffuse Reality and released music on respected labels like Nothing But, Tribal Pulse, and SOMA Labs Music.
Beyond his artistic endeavours, he is dedicated to education and community building in the electronic music scene through his teaching, and creation of resources like samples, presets and courses for other musicians.
Clôture Électronique
Clôture Électronique is the musical identity of Jostijn Ligtvoet, a musician who explores the boundaries and intersections between acoustic and electronic sounds.
With his cello and modular synthesizer, he creates a unique soundscape centered on improvisation.
Repetitions, noise, and sustained notes form hypnotic structures that slowly unfold. His compositions are infused with homemade recordings that seamlessly blend with the synthesizer sounds, creating a constant interplay between the familiar and the alien, but maintaining a dialogue.
Moos & Mandy
Mandy (a.k.a. Jungle of Wires) and Moos (a.k.a. [moosdohmen]) both have a track record of playing live at many locations.
Moos is known for his gritty dubs and way too big setups, and Mandy for her all-out improv skills on small setups.
Recently Mandy and Moos played a 4 hour improvisation set together with two others. That gave them the idea to do a live collab at Open Forms. After a few studio sessions Mandy and Moos are ready to give you dubby danceable tunes full of interesting textures.
point.omicron
for this edition of Open Forms
will become an unusual collaboration
between the Hyperborean and the Mediterranean seasick abstract electronica.
